We sat down with the Creative Director behind the brand to talk about bridging the gap between graffiti culture, shipping container culture, and fine art collecting.
Q: Let’s start with the big picture. How are you actually bringing full-scale street art inside people’s homes?
It really comes down to form factor. Standard paper prints are flat, and street art isn't flat—it has grit, scale, and presence. We translate raw, full-scale pieces onto physical 3D container models. Instead of a basic poster on a wall, you get the actual depth, texture, and physical presence of a street-level wall right on your shelf.
Q: Street art is inherently temporary. Why turn it into a permanent physical object?
Because graffiti is temporary. Walls get buffed, painted over, and destroyed overnight. That’s the beauty of the culture, but it’s also the heartbreak. We capture that fleeting energy before it disappears forever, freezing the writer's work into a permanent, collectible format that you can actually hold onto.
Q: Where did the idea to use shipping container models specifically come from?
It was a natural overlap of everything we’ve been doing for two decades. My partner runs JuncYards and has used real shipping containers as mobile galleries and activation centers for public art marketing. Both of us have a 20-year history working with graffiti artists and curating shows. Between his container activations, my background as a writer, and our access to high-end print tech, combining containers and graffiti just clicked.
Q: Isn’t graffiti supposed to stay outside on the streets?
Graffiti belongs to the streets, but real art deserves a permanent legacy. We aren't trying to tame it; we’re bridging the gap between raw outdoor culture and refined private spaces. It gives collectors a piece of underground history without diluting the roots of the culture.
Q: How do these stack up against a traditional $50 print someone might buy online?
Traditional prints fade, lie flat in a frame, and lack soul. Our 1:20 scale models give you a large printable surface area of a flat print because you’re wrapping multiple dimensional sides. Plus, the print tech we use gives you archival vibrancy and true depth that changes how the art sits in a room.
Q: How do you handle working with the artists? Are these official collaborations?
100%. Every single drop is an official collaboration built for the artist. As a writer and curator, I reach out directly to active writers, local Canadian talent, solid artists whose work I respect, and as many legendary pioneers of the culture as I can track down. Connecting can be wild—some guys are active on social media, others are too busy or off the grid, so I’m chasing connections through email or mutual friends. But the goal is simple: preserve their exact line work, honor their vision, and make sure they get paid.
Q: Tell us about the physical build and the tech behind these models.
They’re heavy-duty ABS molded plastic with metal integrated for structural integrity, measuring 12 inches long by 5 inches tall and wide—an exact 1:20 replica of a 20-foot container. We source them as custom blanks with working twist-lock doors.
To get the art on, we use a UV DTF printer. We calibrate the height to the peaks of the container corrugation, which lets the printer lay ink evenly across all the ridges and deep angles. We lay down a white undercoat, the color layer, and finish with a clear coat. Once cured, the finish is scratch-resistant, waterproof, and hyper-vibrant.
